British Expats Stay Abroad
British people often head to foreign countries to pursue business opportunities. Asia is a rich market, but increasingly many are heading to the Middle East where oil-rich countries present excellent prospects. Qatar, Oman and the UAEare some of the more popular options for these Brits who transport their lives to entirely new places. Many Brits have fully set up financial lives in these new climes, and have their own banks in Qatar, Omanor wherever they have chosen to land.
Recent figures indicate that these Brits may not be coming home. According to Lloyds TSB International, the proportion of expats who now plan to stay away from the UK indefinitely has risen to 69%. This startling figure owes to three factors: the quality of life that can be attained abroad, better finances and safe neighbourhoods in expat enclaves.
Qatar is one country where many Brits have settled. The economy there is driven primarily by oil as 2009 production came to around 816,000 barrels a day. Industries have also grown up around mineral resources such as zinc, limestone, copper and gold.
